![]() All things considered, I recommend the ATX experiences for teens and young adults, but not really young children. These newly revised ATX experiences just opened in early 2018 and seems they are still working out a few kinks with them. It was a fantastic experience well worth it. The simulator software on this one needs an over haul to be worth it.ĪTX4- Walk on Mars Virtual Reality - teams of 2 people, where 1 person gives instructions and the other has VR Gear on and does tasks while on Mars. It has the potential to be the best part of the training and the simulators look really cool, but the software and role-play was not intuitive and outdated. This was a very good experience.ĪTX3- Lander/Rover Simulator - teams of 2 rotate between being in the Rover and being at the command station giving orders. During the experience, you rotate so each person gets to perform all the roles. One person gives instructions, one person does tasks in a floating harness simulating no gravity and one person assists. This was neat but relied on 12 people all following instructions and performing their roles correctly and we failed our mission 2 times.ĪTX2- Spacewalk Training- team of 3 people do tasks to fix space station modules. After 1 mission attempt the teams switched roles between command center and capsule module. It does require each member to do tasks quickly and accurately or you fail the mission. Each member is given a role and needs to complete tasks along the way by pressing buttons and speaking status updates. The core theme in these Training sessions is how each person on any of the missions has their own role to play which is critical to the overall success of your team succeeding in the missions.ĪTX1- Astronaut Training Experience Simulator - your mission team is split into 6 people in a command center and 6 people in a capsule module. ATX New Astronaut Training - this was a 5 hour session - see the site for details but it included 4 individual experiences. ![]() Note you can do just one or some of these for a separate cost each. We did the complete 5 hour Astronaut Training that included all of the items I will review below. Don't wait until you get to the complex or you may not even be able to get them the same day. ![]() I highly recommend you go to the Kennedy Space Center website to research and buy the ATX Add-on packages ahead of time if you want them. We definitely enjoyed the day even though it ended up costing way more than I planned to originally spend here. The ATX costs are totally separate and in a separate building. The basic entry to the Kennedy Space Center does not cover any of this. I enjoyed the experience but anyone planning to do this definitely needs to research their options and costs involved to decide if its for them. My older teen son and I did the ATX add-on Astronaut Training 5 hour experiences. I added a review for the Kennedy Space Center including some of these details but adding here since the focus of this is specifically the ATX add-on Astronaut Training Experience. ![]()
